California Debates Restricting Wine Imports

Retailers would face new hurdles to bring rare wines to consumers

If grands crus Burgundies or small-production Piedmont reds are musts for your collection, a bill being considered by the California legislature could prove vexing. A major battle has erupted within California's wine industry over a proposed law that would restrict how wine is imported into the state; if passed, it could affect wine collectors around the country.
