Every year, the Wine Spectator Top 100 honors those wines that represent an irresistible combination of quality, value and availability. Last year's list, released in December 2000, contained an embarrassment of red wine riches, as producers around the world released a plethora of spectacular offerings that year, the majority from the 1997 and 1998 vintages.
