On a soft night in June 2001, the barrel cellar at Château Lafite Rothschild was lit by candles and crowded with men in tuxedos and women in flowing gowns. They had gathered for a dinner hosted by the owners of the Bordeaux châteaus included in the famous 1855 classification.
