For a wine lover, "vinegar" is something of a dirty word. It's what happens when a good bottle turns to the acid Dark Side (hence its name, from vin aigre, or "sour wine"). Granted, wine vinegar can be pretty nasty -- if you're buying some supermarket brand, that is.
