Judge Dismisses Challenge to Florida's Ban on Wine Shipments

Issue: September 30, 2001

In a legal setback to wine collectors, a U.S. District Court judge in Florida has dismissed a lawsuit challenging the state's ban against out-of-state sellers shipping wine directly to consumers. Judge James Whittemore threw out a civil rights complaint filed in 1999 by six wine collectors in Sarasota County.
