Brice Cutrer Jones was fired in July as president and CEO of Sonoma-Cutrer Vineyards, which he built into one of California's best-known Chardonnay brands since planting the first vineyards in 1973. Drinks giant Brown-Forman Corporation bought Sonoma-Cutrer in April 1999; Jones kept a small equity stake, and the winery operated independently.
