June 15th, 2001 Mondavi Project in Southern France Appears Doomed Robert Mondavi Corp. may have lost its chance to make high-end Syrah in France's Languedoc region. The California company's $8 million proposal to develop a winery and vineyards in a public forest hit a roadblock when it became a cause célèbre in recent local elections.
