March 31st, 2001 Top Burgundy Winemaker Leaves Family Domaine Patrice Rion breaks with brothers, founds own estate Following disagreements with his brothers, Patrice Rion, the longtime winemaker at Domaine Daniel Rion et Fils in Burgundy's Cote de Nuits, has decided to split from the family estate that he helped make famous with Pinot Noirs of outstanding quality.
