June 30, 2000 First-Quarter 2000 Auction Index Rises 1.1 Percent Burgundy and California outperform market The Wine Spectator Auction Index average rose 1.1 percent in the first quarter of 2000. Although the increase was modest, the fact that most collectible wines managed to sustain the heady price levels generated in the last quarter of 1999 was in itself noteworthy.
