December 31st, 1999 France Dominates Top 10 Wines of 1998 Each year, Wine Spectator editors choose the 100 best wines of the year, and of these, the Top 10 represent the crème de la crème. In 1998, due to several recent favorable vintages, France rose to the top and accounted for eight of the 10 best wines of the year.
