
November 15th, 1999 Armed Robbers Steal Rare Bubbly From Los Angeles Wine Shop The threat of a Champagne shortage this year has prompted some people to turn to crime. On Aug. 31, an armed gunman and two accomplices entered the warehouse of Wally's wine shop in West Los Angeles and made off with about $250,000 of prestige Champagne that the retailer had stocked for the millennium.
