April 30, 1999 Grenache, Mourvèdre and More Syrah is not the only Rhône variety currently growing in popularity among California winemakers. Grenache, the most widely planted red grape in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, at the southern end of the Rhône Valley, has long been found in California's Central Valley.
