December 15, 1998 Aussies to Make Pope Valley Shiraz Australian wine producer Mildara Blass has purchased 420 acres in Pope Valley, a grape-growing region that lies just east of Napa Valley. The company expanded its operations to California last year when it launched its Bayliss & Fortune brand, which uses grapes purchased from throughout the state.
