Meltzer BUTTERFIELD, BUTTERFIELD & DUNNING San Francisco SALE DATE Sept. 12 GROSS $790,000 (including the 15 percent buyer's premium) NUMBER OF LOTS 1,206 PERCENT SOLD 92 HIGHLIGHTS Château Léoville Barton was an unlikely star at $920 per case, 101 percent above the second-quarter 1998 Wine Spectator Auction Index average; Château Mouton-Rothschild 1995 fetched $2,875 per case, up 4 percent; Château Haut-Brion 1989 averaged $288 per bottle, down 22 percent; and a case of Château d'Yquem 1988 brought $2,875, up 14 percent.
