June 30, 1998 Index Drops 6 Percent in Second Straight Decline Prices for the first quarter of 1998 indicate a continued correction of the wine auction market By Peter D. Meltzer For the second quarter in a row, the Wine Spectator Auction Index showed a modest decline, falling 6 percent in the first quarter of 1998 compared to the previous three-month period.
