May 15, 1998 Cuban Wines Take Off Near Missile Site In 1962, missile installations constructed by the Soviet Union near San Cristóbal, Cuba, sent the world to the brink of nuclear war. Today, three Italians are working together near the former missile site to produce the first wines of the island.
