September 30, 1997 Huge Trove of Ancient Wine Vessels Found Traveling deeper undersea than any archaeologists have ever ventured, the team that located the Titanic and the German battleship Bismarck has discovered the wrecks of eight Mediterranean merchant vessels, some of them wine-laden ships that were part of important regional trade.
