June 30, 1997 Simmering Cava Dispute Cools Down A year after the titans of Spanish sparkling wine, Codorníu and Freixenet, noisily accused each other of lowering the quality of their famed "cava" bubblies, the two sides have quietly shoved the dispute under the carpet, without formally settling it.
