December 15, 1996 Mendocino Vintner Adds Chocolate John Scharffenberger is adding chocolate to his sparkling wine business. Scharffenberger, still semi-active in the eponymous Mendocino County winery now owned by Pommery, told Wine Spectator he plans to launch a new high-quality chocolate business in March to compete with such high-profile French brands as Valrhona and Callebaut.
