November 15, 1996 Butterfield Holds Its Highest-Grossing Auction Ever Butterfield & Butterfield held its biggest auction ever Sept. 21 in Beverly Hills, Calif., with a simulcast in San Francisco. The 710-lot sale, which consisted exclusively of fine and rare vintages, grossed $1.
