March 31, 1996 Grape Prices Rise in California as Demand Surges According to the preliminary figures on the 1995 grape crush from the California Department of Agriculture, prices for leading varieties jumped from 17 percent for Zinfandel to a whopping 28 percent for Chardonnay as compared to 1994.
