July 31, 1994 Sheep in Wolves' Clothing I thought the rich red wine in front of me was definitely a Northern Rhône from a top vintage like 1978 or 1983. It arrived in an unmarked decanter at the dinner table but its dark color, opulent spicy, and crushed black pepper aromas and flavors suggested a top Syrah, perhaps from Hermitage or Côte-Rôtie.
