May 15, 1994 Ernst Loosen Buys Top Mosel Valley Vineyards In early April, Ernst Loosen of the Dr. Loosen estate in Germany's Mosel Valley bought the vineyards of the Mönchhof estate in Ürzig. Wine Spectator's tasting reports on recent German vintages show Loosen, 36, to be one of the hottest rising stars among the nation's vintners.
