April 15, 1994 Grapevine * Australia is mourning the loss of one of its greatest winemakers, Max Schubert. He died March 8 at his home in Adelaide after a long illness. He was 79. While the wine- maker at Penfolds Winery in the 1950s, he created the Shiraz-based blend for Australia's best red wine, Grange Hermitage.
