Second-Quarter Auction Index Rises 1.5 Percent

Despite small growth overall, some sky-high prices; choice Burgundies soar

The Wine Spectator Auction Index, which tracks sales of commercial wine auctions in the United States, rose a modest 1.5 percent from 332.65 points in 2014's first quarter to 337.63 in the second quarter. But this meager progress belies three months of tremendous purchases.
