Auction Index Rises Slightly in Fourth Quarter of 2013

Record prices attained in Hong Kong; number of lots on offer soars in United States

The Wine Spectator Auction Index, which tracks sales at commercial wine auctions in the United States, rose 1.1 percent, from 314.98 points in the third quarter of 2013 to 318.45 points in the fourth. Although the increase was modest, it marked a return to positive levels not seen since the second quarter of 2012.
