Following hours of feverish bidding in Hong Kong on April 3, the New York installment of the two-part El Bulli auction was held on April 26 at Sotheby's. The event brought $913,605 to support the El Bulli Foundation, a gastronomic research and innovation organization founded by Ferran Adrià, famed chef of the Michelin three-star restaurant, which closed in July 2011. Combined, the two auctions raised $2.7 million. Wine Spectator's Lizzie Munro reports.
