Rum Gains Ground

Think of rum, and spirited Caribbean vacations or a first taste of liquor sweetened with cola often spring to mind. But this historic drink of the tropics doesn't usually evoke serious-minded thoughts—at least not the sort that go with earnest whiskies and profound brandies. But an ongoing resurgence is making it abundantly clear that rum can be a multifaceted drink, with much to examine. Wine Spectator's Jack Bettridge explains.
