A difficult growing season results in a very erratic set of wines

Wine Spectator's James Molesworth's first look at 2012 Bordeaux revealed a vintage marked by mixed quality, with the successful châteaus often riding far ahead of the pack in their respective appellations. Among reds, Merlot in Pomerol and the wines of Pessac-Léognan stand out as the most consistent performers, based on preliminary barrel tastings of the vintage.
