Heavy alcohol consumption is known to increase hypertension in adults, potentially leading to heart disease and stroke. A recent meta-analysis of previous research by a team of cardiologists at St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital Center and Columbia University has found, however, that light drinking can either reduce the risk of hypertension, or at least not elevate it. Wine Spectator's Jacob Gaffney reports.
