
When Wine Spectator columnist Matt Kramer introduced this seminar, he explained to the audience that the title, "Subtle Australia," was not meant to be ironic—despite the commonly held perception that Australian wines are big and sometimes overpowering. Rather, he said, it is precisely this image that the country's winemakers need to overcome, because there is another style of Australian wine, an alluring one that most consumers never taste.
