
The Wine Spectator Auction Index, which tracks sales at fine wine auctions in the U.S., fell from 341.27 points in the third quarter of 2011 to 333.50 in the fourth quarter, a decrease of 2.28 percent. This was the index's third quarterly decline for the year. The index now stands at the same level as in the second half of 2010. Wine Spectator's Peter Meltzer reports.
