The New Whiskey Rebellion
Wine Spectator's Jack Bettridge reports that during WWII, Bruichladdich, a tiny Scotch distillery on Islay, got a sweet deal on an old still from the mainland. So they strapped it to a barge and floated it down the River Clyde past a submarine base. That's when the U.S. Defense Threat Reduction Agency took notice. A new whiskey rebellion was taking place.
