
Rene di Rosa, art collector, newspaper reporter and grapegrower died Oct. 3 in Napa. He was 91. Di Rosa was one of the first to plant Pinot Noir in Carneros, at his Winery Lake Vineyard. Marcel Lapierre, an esteemed grower and winemaker from the Morgon appellation in France's Beaujolais region, died Oct. 10 after an extended sickness.
