Back in 2003 I declared, with my customary certainty, that Syrah would be the next Really Big red. "Really Big," I asserted, "is when golf courses and bed-and-breakfasts use the name. When it becomes a lipstick shade or a paint color. This is precisely what's going to happen to Syrah." I was wrong. It never happened.
