Brunello di Montalcino's 1999 vintage has always lived in the shadow of the legendary 1997. Even though the hillside vineyards of Montalcino produced some of the region's ripest, most powerful Sangioveses ever in 1999, the vintage went unnoticed by many wine lovers. As such, a decade later you can still find some on retail shelves and restaurant wine lists at reasonable prices-and they are more than worth the search.
