
In Washington, money speaks loudly. When Obama unveiled his budget proposal, he called for a big increase in the National Organic Program budget—$6.7 million. The organic transition program, which provides funds for various research projects, would also get a major increase: $5 million up from $1.8 million. Producers are appreciative of the attention, and some wineries are already receiving help.
