I used to be a stickler for proper cocktail timing, insisting that gin and tonics were for summer consumption, whisky for winter. And woe to those who muddled the seasons. While I've softened, I cling to one cliché: Hot weather cries out for the wet and frosty cocktail of summer, because despite the best efforts of HVAC engineers, we all need auxiliary cooling.
