Mariano Fernandez, 63, Chilean ambassador to the U. S. from 2006 to 2009, was recently named Chile's Minister of Foreign Affairs. His diplomatic career has included postings across Western Europe. A serious collector with a cellar of some 3,500 bottles, Fernandez is also an unofficial ambassador of Chilean wine.
