Auction Index Tumbles 15 Percent
In the second half of 2008, the Wine Spectator Auction Index fell a hefty 15 percent from 333 to 283. The 50-point drop, precipitated by the worldwide crisis that gripped financial markets this past fall, is the largest since the inception of the index in the fourth quarter of 1995 and the second straight period of decline from a record high in the second half of 2007.
