Top-Rated California Cabernets Off Auction Highs
Declines in cult Cab values may set stage for a buyer's market

The recent pause in the rise in value of collectible wines has affected California Cabernets more than other sectors of the Wine Spectator Auction Index. After four years of rapid growth, when California Cabernets significantly outpaced all except the Burgundy index, by the second quarter of 2008, the California Cult index had fallen 8 percent from its peak in the first quarter of 2007.
