Auction Index Off Slightly in First Half of '08
Overseas buyers help float prices as index outperforms the Dow
The Wine Spectator Auction Index fell 4.9 points in the first half of 2008, to 332.94 from 337.84. The 1.45 percent dip paled in comparison to the Dow Jones industrial average's 14 percent drop and the Nasdaq's 13.
