Winemasters Battles Record Heat With Record Bidding

Wine auctions are supposed to raise the temperatures of bidders only metaphorically, not literally. But when the organizers of the 19th annual California Winemasters charity auction woke up on May 19, the day of their big event, Los Angeles was in the throes of a major heat wave, with temperatures topping out at a record 106° F.
