Route Nationale 7, one of France's most historic roads, was peppered with great hotels and restaurants until the faster Auto-route 7 took its place. But it still weaves through the heart of many of the Rhône's great villages, including Tain and Valence, and hosts a few bright culinary lights, such as Michel Chabran's eponymous restaurant and Anne-Sophie Pic's La Maison Pic.
