Auction correspondent Peter D. Meltzer answers your questions about collecting fine wine. He is the author of Keys to the Cellar: Strategies and Secrets of Wine Collecting (John Wiley). Derek Joynt Toronto Q: With Bordeaux futures prices for first-growths continuing to rise to all-time highs, do you consider purchasing 2006 futures to be a good investment, and do you expect their returns to be similar to those of 1990, 1995, 2000? A: The investment potential of a given vintage depends not only on the vintages that preceded it but also on those that follow, so predictions about the future value of the 2006s can be only speculative at this point.
