
Serious hailstorms in June ripped through French vineyards in the Northern Rhône's Côte-Rôtie and in Alsace, farther north. In the Rhône, according to some vignerons, the storm lasted throughout the night of June 20, leaving nearly 8 inches of hail on the ground by the following morning.
