Ernest Gallo 1909-2007
The industry titan teamed with his brother, Julio, to build the world's largest wine company
Ernest Gallo, who built a small winery into a global empire in a career that spanned eight decades, died March 6 at his home in Modesto, Calif., the city where it all began. He was 97. Gallo was one of the undisputed titans of California wine.
