Hard Time for 1996 California Cabernets
Many wines are overly tannic and less than opulent
Now that California's 1996 Cabernet Sauvignons are 10 years old, their strengths and weaknesses are more apparent than they were six or seven years ago. After tasting 58 Cabernets at the close of last year, I found plenty to like from the class of 1996.
