Wine writers shouldn't sound like a local chamber of commerce. No region, no matter how wonderful, is entirely free of blemishes. So you can imagine my chagrin when I found myself sounding like just such a booster at a recent dinner with a nice couple from Los Angeles who were friends of the host.
