In New York, it seems, the brighter the promise, the swifter the backlash. Del Posto, the ambitious new Italian restaurant from celebrity chef Mario Batali, is the latest to run the rapids that bloodied Alain Ducasse at the Essex House and Gramercy Tavern, among many others.
